M ODERNIZ ING MEDICINE CLOSES
FIRST $15M OF FUNDING
Electronic health record developer Modern-
izing Medicine closed on approximately
$15 million of an expected $20 million
funding round. The company is the creator
of Electronic Medical Assistant (EMA), a
cloud-based electronic health record used
by more than 4,000 providers. Summit
Partners and Pentland Group provided the
latest funding along with more than 50 other
existing investors.
The funding will go toward product
development and market expansion, and
it will support Modernizing Medicine's
growth by providing 100 jobs at its Boca
Raton, Florida, headquarters. "We believe
that properly captured and leveraged health
data has the power to increase effi ciency,
improve patient outcomes and transform
healthcare," said Daniel Cane, CEO and
co-founder of Modernizing Medicine. "This
latest round of funding reinforces that belief
and the strength of our market-differentiat-
ing products and services."
