4 SEPTEMBER 2017 | Med Esthetics EDITORIAL ADVISORY BOARD • 603.354.3291 "None of us is as smart as all of us." –Ken Blanchard This one of my favorite quotes from management expert Ken Blanchard, and it is a truth that has long been understood in the medical fi eld. For millennia, physicians and scientists have been seeking new ways to share their knowledge and build upon each other's research. Publishing, conferences, fellowships, even the Internet was founded with the goal of providing a better way to disseminate and share information that could save lives and ease suffering. But are you integrating this idea into your practice management as well? Businesses that encourage staff members to share information regularly through staff meet- ings and daily huddles can head off problems before they take root. Owners and managers who actively listen to employees' ideas and concerns can discover new streams of revenue and develop more effi cient processes that allow the organization to adapt, grow and provide the best possible experience to its consumers. For each issue of MedEsthetics, we reach out to experts—physicians, product developers, consultants and more—in an effort to keep our readers informed of the latest tools, tech- niques and practice management strategies. It is our belief that by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and knowledge, we can help our readers excel in their careers and deliver the best outcomes to their patients. For this issue, we spoke with workplace safety professionals (page 50) who shared the top safety concerns and regulations for medical practices, and offered tips on how to create a culture of safety by encouraging open communication between all team members. One way in which physicians share information on new techniques and technologies is through online procedure videos. But before you post your videos and stills, you must make sure you have obtained proper consent. Turn to page 18 for an overview of what must be included in your online content consent forms. Hydrating fi llers are a new class of dermal fi llers used to improve skin tone and quality, rather than lift and fi ll. Though they are currently not available in the United States, U.S.- based physicians are learning new ways to provide soft tissue rejuvenation thanks to the experiences of their international colleagues. For Newsmakers on page 72, we spoke with doctors in Bogotá, Colombia, and Beverly Hills, California, to learn how they are incorporat- ing the hydrating benefi ts of hyaluronic acid-based fi llers in their aesthetic services. In addition to providing a broad range of content in our print magazine, MedEsthetics has launched a series of webinars for our readers. These webinars feature industry experts sharing their specifi c expertise on everything from postprocedure skin care to leveraging social media to attract new patients and strategies to improve conversion rates. The 45-minute presenta- tions are available free to our readers and can help jumpstart discussion in staff meetings.
