The site features researched con- tent, product reviews and insider profi les, together with the latest beauty news and trends. In addition to its editorial content, Spot- lyte will provide consumers access to a team of trained specialists who can chat directly with anyone considering medical aesthetic treatments and help connect them to local licensed providers. Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, co-founder of Gilt Groupe and Glamsquad and senior vice president of Consumer Strategy and Innovation at Allergan is leading the effort. Spotlyte is also the fi rst venture from the new Allergan-owned digital ventures unit, Project Moonwalker, which will serve as a launchpad for new in- novations in medical aesthetics. "We have a unique position as industry leaders to identify emerging trends in real time and change the way that consumers engage with medical aesthetics," said Wilkis Wilson. "I have spent most of my career focused on the consumer while creating pow- erful brands at the intersection of technology and lifestyle. The core goal of Project Moonwalker is to enable information fl ow and access. Spotlyte is the fi rst step in changing how consumers can become better educated on medical aesthetics." CANFIELD ACQUIRES VISIOMED Canfi eld Scientifi c, a developer of skin analysis and 3D imaging systems, has acquired Ger- man company VISIOMED AG, a leading designer and manufacturer of dermoscopy systems. As part of the acquisition, Dirk Holle, previous CEO of VISIOMED, will lead Canfi eld Sci- entifi c GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canfi eld Scientifi c, Inc. The new operation, located in Bielefeld, Germany, will focus on high magnifi cation imaging research and development, and act as a customer support and logistics center for Canfi eld in Europe. Peter Klar, previously VISIOMED's global head of sales and marketing, will assume responsibility for commercial sales of Canfi eld's imaging systems as Chief Sales Offi cer (CSO) in Europe. "The addition of VISIOMED's best-in-class optical and digital dermatoscopes are a perfect extension to our imaging portfo- lio," said Doug Canfi eld, president of Canfi eld Scientifi c. "Fur- thermore, their commitment to excellence and organizational culture was a natural fi t with our own." PAGE 1 ACQUIRES STRATEGIC EDGE Digital marketing agency Page 1 Solutions has acquired Strategic Edge Partners, a marketing agency providing online, print and on-site services to plastic surgeons, aesthetic and dermatology practices, medspas and industry suppliers. Dana Fox, president and CEO of Strategic Edge Partners, has joined Page 1 Solutions as vice president of practice development. Page 1 Solutions has provided digital marketing services for plastic surgeons for more than 15 years, including search engine optimization (SEO), website design and development, social media marketing, reviews and ratings management. CANDELA AND VBF PROVIDE PRO-BONO LASER TREATMENTS On October 5, Candela Corporation in partnership with the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation provided pro-bono Vbeam pulsed dye laser treatments to 30 pre-qualifi ed adult and pediatric pa- tients with birthmarks, port wine stains and other vascular-related conditions. Roy Geronemus, MD, performed the treatments at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York in Manhattan. The treatments kicked off the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation Annual Conference, which took place on October 6 at Lenox Hill Hospital and featured educational sessions on the latest research and advancements in treatments for vascular birthmarks, including port wine stains, hemangiomas and related conditions. Experts were also available to meet with families throughout the day and offered patient-focused sessions on makeup, psychotherapy, insur- ance issues and support.
