practice's fast, yet measured, growth.

EVER SINCE OSCAR HEVIA, MD, began his clinical rotation in medical
school, he fretted that his budding career would consume nearly all of his time
and leave little room for a family. Te Cuban-born doctor couldn't imagine being
only a part-time husband and father.
"I was raised in a very close family environment and had the fortune of
having both of my parents devote much of their time to their children," he says.
"I wanted to explore a specialty of medicine where my professional time wouldn't
conflict with family, and that's why I became interested in dermatology."
In addition to providing a more predictable work schedule, dermatology has
allowed Dr. Hevia to launch his own practice, Hevia Cosmetic Dermatology in
Coral Gables, Florida. Here, he and his wife Ana—the practice administrator—
strive to create a welcoming envrionment where staff and patients are treated like
extended family.
